Crockpot Apple Butter
Fall is almost here, which means it’s time to eat all things apple! When you come home from the orchard, make sure to set some fruit aside to make this decadent Crockpot Apple Butter!
Thanks to this simple recipe, you can spread spice-filled fall flavor on all your favorite baked goods. With just 6 ingredients and a crockpot, you can whip up some Homemade Apple Butter to enjoy all season long.
Unlike a lot of other apple butter recipes, this particular recipe has actual butter in it, so it tastes extra rich and creamy! However, if you have a dairy sensitivity, it can be omitted.
Making this sweet treat is about as easy as making Homemade Applesauce (which is also really easy – recipe coming soon for that too).
The recipe calls for 6 pounds of Granny Smith apples, granulated and brown sugar, apple pie spice, vanilla extract, and a few tablespoons of salted butter. Add everything but the butter to the crockpot to start.
Crockpot Apple Butter cooks for a total of 10 hours so it makes a thick, smooth spread. With 2 hours left in the cook time, you’ll use a stick blender to blend until smooth and then add in the butter before cooking for another 2 hours!
There are also plenty of unexpected ways to use Apple Butter, too: try it warmed and on top of vanilla ice cream, with mashed or baked sweet potatoes, in a sweet and savory marinade, and even mixed into a tasty cocktail!
I also like keeping a couple jars on hand to bring as hostess gifts. Sometimes I present it as a set alongside a canister of pancake or biscuit mix, or attach a card with pairing ideas and a recipe on it!
There’s nothing like the taste of fresh fall apples, and this easy Apple Butter Recipe is the perfect way to enjoy it in all sorts of ways! Try making it this season, but be careful — you may get addicted!
