SLOW COOKER BEEF GYROS

I wanted to make something a little more healthy for dinner tonight, but I wanted it to be quick and easy. Our Chicken Gyros are one of the most popular posts on our site, so I decided that it was time for a beef version . . . and I think that I like it even more!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 pounds sirloin steak (cut into 1/2 inch strips)
  • 1 onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 6 pita bread
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 cucumber (sliced)
  • Tzatziki sauce:
  • 32 ounces plain yogurt
  • 2 cucumbers (peeled and seeded)
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • olive oil, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Pour beef broth in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Place steak in the slow cooker and top with onion slices.
