ZOMBIE BRAIN JELLO SHOTS

While typically I prefer the cutesie and magical side to Halloween, sometimes you need to let out your inner gore and horror. With shows like the Walking Dead, the IT remake, and American Horror story, the scary side of this holiday never takes a back seat. So this one is for you my zombie loving, gore appreciating Halloween fans.

These Zombie Brain Jello Shots are easy to make and are the perfect creepy touch to your Halloween drink station. You can even take them up a notch by switching out the lime jello for peach for a more realistic brain look. To be honest, I couldn’t stomach photographing such a thing so I took a hard pass and went for a more Frankenstein approach.

Ingredients

• 3 ounces Lime Flavored Gelatin
• 1 envelope Knox Unflavored Gelatin
• 4 tablespoons Sweetened Condensed Milk
• 1 cup Water
• 2/3 cup Cold Lime Vodka (Any Spirit Works)
• Flavorless Oil
• Food Coloring Optional
• Royal Icing Axes Optional

Instructions

1. Add 1 cup of water and envelope of Knox Unflavored Gelatin to a saucepan. Let bloom for 1 minute. Add saucepan to the stove over medium to medium high heat bringing to a simmer while whisking your Knox and water mixture. Once your Knox is fully dissolved add in your lime gelatin and whisk until it has also fully dissolved.
2. Remove sauce pot from heat and let stand until simmering has stopped. Next whisk in 4 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk until fully incorporated. Then slowly add in your cold lime vodka. You'll want to add in a bit at a time so you don't seize your condensed milk. Once all your ingredients are fully incorporated in your pot let it sit until at working temperature.
3. Lightly grease your brain jello molds with oil, wiping out any areas that have excess. Then begin to fill each mold up with jello. Add to the fridge to let firm up for 2-3 hours.
