THE BEST PUMPKIN SPICE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
The Best Pumpkin Spice Buttercream Frosting is sweet, creamy, pumpkin-y, spicy and delicious, a great Fall cake or cupcake choice!
Pumpkin is not just for pie … give it a try on a cupcake or a cake, we promised you won’t be disappointed. Our Best Pumpkin Spice Buttercream Frosting has all the rich fall flavors of this classic Thanksgiving dessert in the form of another classic … buttercream frosting.
In a mixer, add the softened butter and the pumpkin puree and then mix until combined. Then add the powdered sugar. (Note about the powdered sugar: we don’t sift it. If it is really lumpy, we used the mixed paddles to break it up before adding it to the frosting.) Mix on a low speed until the butter/pumpkin mixture and the powdered sugar are combined. Then continue to beat on medium speed until the frosting is creamy. Add the vanilla and mix until combined. Then add the cinnamon and nutmeg. Add milk one tablespoon at a time (if needed) until the frosting is at the desired consistency.
