HIBISCUS ROSE LATTE

Have you noticed all the different types of lattes that have been trending lately?

First there was matcha lattes, turmeric lattes, and even activated charcoal lattes! I’ve seen way more different types too. In fact there’s probably enough different types of lattes these days to create an entire rainbow of lattes.

I actually used to never be a huge latte drinker, I always just drank my coffee black and my tea plain. (I know, I’m boring.) This was mainly because I don’t drink milk, and there used to be virtually no non-dairy milk options when it came to lattes! Now with more trends in plant-based milks, it’s become easier to find. (Though I still have some trouble finding sugar-free options at most cafes…)

My very first latte I ever had was actually this past year. Crazy right?


INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 drops rose water
  • 2-inch cube of ginger
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags (I used this one)
  • 1 cup steamed almond milk (Heat using a milk steamer, or in a pot on medium heat)
  • 1-2 tsp sweetener of choice (I recommend maple syrup or agave)
  • edible rose petals (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add the water, rose water, and ginger to a small pot. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the hibiscus tea bags. Let sit and steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the cube of ginger and tea bags and pour into your mug.
  3. Slowly add the steamed almond milk to your mug.
  4. Sweeten with a little bit of maple syrup or agave.
  5. top with edible rose petals if you like! (optional but pretty!)
