HOW TO MAKE A MATCHA GREEN TEA LATTE

I used to be a heavy coffee drinker, but recently cut back to only one cup per day. Some days, I try to go without, but I have a hard time going in the morning without it.

One of my favorite summer drinks has always been iced coffee. I would just brew a large pot of strong coffee and keep it in the fridge. Then, when I wanted a slightly sweet refreshment, I’d pour a cup over ice and heavy cream. For flavor and sweetness, I’d use either a sugar free coffee syrup or flavored stevia.

Now that the summer weather is starting to hit Southern New England, I needed a cold brew to replace my iced coffee. Well, I’ve found that new beverage. It’s a delicious iced vanilla matcha green tea latte. And, it whips up in a minute with only 3 ingredients! How great is that?

You may have seen the green tea latte at Starbucks. That drink is made with milk and a matcha tea blend that’s high in sugar. If you look at the nutrition info for the Grande 16oz with 2% milk, it packs in 34 grams of carbs with only 1 gram of fiber. That’s way to many carbs to be drinking!

I recently received a bag of matcha from Midori Spring in return for an honest review. It’s an authentic matcha powder that comes from Japan. I’ve made traditional Matcha tea before and just love it. So, I was excited to give this powder a try.

Midori Spring offers several types of organic matcha green tea powder. I got the 100 gram bag of Eco Class powder. It had a wonderful earthy smell when I first opened the bag. It’s an excellent choice for using in low carb recipes.

The weather has been pretty hot the last couple weeks, so I was excited to try out an iced vanilla matcha green tea latte recipe with the powder. The quality of the matcha powder did not disappoint! And, the green tea latte was perfect for hot day here in Connecticut.

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder 2g
  • 5 vanilla stevia drops
