Elvis Burger

The Elvis burger honors the food stylings of the late, great hip gyrator Elvis. This banana burger is savory, salty and sweet. It’s topped off with fried bananas, peanut butter, and diced bacon . This Elvis burger will get you all shook up.

The peanut butter, bacon and banana sandwich was a favorite of Elvis to the point where the sandwich often bears his name. There is a book about him and his mother, Gladys Presley, that says he talked feverishly until dawn while wolfing down the sandwiches. Other stories talk about him eating them with caramelized bananas and crispy bacon on grilled Hawaiian bread.

You may not want to follow Elvis’ diet advice in general, but you can’t go wrong with a banana burger on occasion. This thing is pretty tasty!

Caramelized Banana Burger
To honor the King we’ve gotta make this Elvis burger great. Caramelized bananas should do the trick! Cut up a couple bananas into slices and put them in a pan with some brown sugar. That brown sugar will melt up and give the bananas a deliciously sweet coating. Flip them over into the sugar and cook until they get a bit gooey, but not too long or they’ll fall apart.

Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs Ground Chuck Beef 80% lean / 20% fat
  • 4 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Pepper
  • 2 Bananas
  • 1/2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • Peanut Butter
  • 6 Pieces Bacon
  • 4 Hamburger Buns
  • Honey optional

  1. Begin cooking bacon. You can put it in a pan, in the oven for 15-20 min at 400 degrees.
  2. Get a pan warm (medium heat) and drop in brown sugar and bananas. Cook for a couple minutes and flip. Coating with melted brown sugar. Cook until caramelized but not too gooey.
